La obra relaciona a Beethoven con la tradición platónica, la gnosis, Schopenhauer, Jung, Einstein, la física moderna y la idea de la música como forma superior de conocimiento. Entre sus capítulos figuran el Testamento de Heiligenstadt, Fidelio, la Missa Solemnis, la Novena Sinfonía y el Cuarteto Op. 131.
